I remembered what i was actually planning to blog about! Just ran off on a little tangent, sorry...

So, here is what was going to be the last post!

Firefox have very kindly published my second persona (google firefox personas, they're pretty awesome) which can be found here or by searching "Reese's Peanut Butter Cups" - sticking with the chocolate theme, this one is basically just a Reese's logo (over the header and footer graphic) with an orange background.

I admit, not as classy as my Oreos one, but it was made in 5 minutes. Sorry

Speaking of the Oreos: Heaven in a Biscuit persona, it officially reached 10 users the other day :) which is super exciting for someone with only very basic graphic design skills, using online editing software (SUMO paint, for anyone who's interested, is like an online version of Photoshop. Except free)

Coolest Subjects Around

Heya all :)

I was listening to Hamish and Andy this morning, and one of the listeners who rang in was talking about her "natural disasters" class. That she takes in high school. Yup.

Needless to say i was extremely jealous, so i thought i'd come up with a few awesome subjects of my own, to be taught at my chocolate appreciation academy (now taking enrollments for semester 2 2010).

Oreos 101 - here you learn the 5 true ways to enjoy an oreo, discover how they were invented and discuss why they play such an important part in society today. Assessments include a demonstration of a new way to use Oreos in cooking

Literature Appreciation - in this subject students are encouraged to read at least 1 book every term. Books are chosen by the student, without the need for teacher's approval. A 20 minute examination that requiring students to give a brief overview of the book provides the student's mark.

Facebook for Dummies - for those just beginning their facebook journey, this course explains such things as the Wall, Facebook Chat and naming albums. Each student provides a facebook profile to be assessed at the end of the semester.

Formal Invitations

So my school is having our Senior Formal (aka Prom) in October, and since November last year various methods have been used by half the male population to invite girls to the event. These have ranged from a cute youtube video (critics have claimed it was to ensure the girl said yes, but we all believe he's romantic) to the ever awkward "would you like to... um... you know what, forget about it" in front of friends.

So, this got me thinking... is there actually a guide on how to ask a girl to a dance? and it turns out there are actually multiple(the best of which was how to ask a girl out while wearing a gorilla suit, something i didn't realise was such a pressing issue) which sort of makes this blog redundant, but being me I'm going to write one anyway :) SO... here goes nothing.

Option 1

As you may have guessed, I am somewhat fond of oreos. For this method however, basically any wrapped chocolate is applicable... a packet of Hershey's kisses is ideal. Buy a packet of chocolate (oreos, kisses, etc). Write a note ('will you come to the formal with me?' is entirely acceptable, especially if you're just friends. However, if you bought a packet of kisses something slightly more cute would be advised) on some nice paper (at the very least, a sheet of plain white paper, not a scrap you pulled out of your notebook). Tape the all important note onto the packet of chocolate, ensuring it is stuck well enough to stay on but not taped so much that you can't read it/can't open the chocolates. Also, helpful hint at this stage is to make sure your name is on the note BEFORE you attach it to the chocolates. While they taste great, they're not the best things to try and write on. Take the chocolates to school and place them in her bag/locker (enlisting her friends help may be crucial at this stage), and voila, you've just got a date to the dance!

Option 2

This one should only be attempted in the safety of a house (yours or the girls). Buy a packet of heart lollipops (or heart candy, if she doesn't like lollipops). Clear a table (or other suitable flat surface) - important note here is to make sure the surface is CLEAR. Arrange the lollipops (candy) to say 'formal' (or prom, etc), then either invite the girl over or wait for her to come home. Very cute, but probably better to use this one if you're really good friends/an item, not just a nice girl you talk to every so often.

Option 3

This one does not necessitate purchasing sugar filled items, I promise. Ask the girl to come do something with you - catch a movie, walk to the other side of the school... it really doesn't matter what, you just want her alone. When you're away from both of your friends, ask her to go to the dance with you. Seriously, most girls will be giddy just being asked - going all out isn't really necessary. When attempting this it is important that you are not only without friends in hearing distance but also out of sight... if things do go badly, it's not the end of the world but it will make it worse if friends see you standing awkwardly with the girl. Also, if you go to a room for some privacy, make sure you close the door. My friend was smart enough to realise that in another room he was out of sight and hearing range, but unfortunately forgot to close the door, resulting in the entire school hearing all the gory details by morning tea (luckily, it went well for him).

Above all, have fun and be you. If doing something extravagant isn't you, don't. It's tacky and girls can see it. Also, don't freak out - the worst that can happen is she'll say 'no'. While this is hurtful, chances are there's a fairly good reason for it (and that's not that you had mustard on your top) - she's already got a date, is head over heals for another guy, is a hateful hag... regardless, it's her loss. And if she ends up going solo, more fool her.

Propose With Oreos

So i've decided to start writing this, mainly for myself (i doubt anyone else will read this), because boredom is a horrible thing.

Awhile ago, 2 friends and I started collecting things to write in a book. Initially we were going to do "things we learnt the hard way", but then we read this awesome series by Erynn Mangum in which the girl is proposed to with oreos... lets just say, i now have a new dream.

So, in the off chance that someone wishing to become my fiance (or someone else's) is reading this, I shall teach you the proper etiquette of proposing with oreos.

1) Make sure the proposal is slightly unexpected... Don't take her out to a fancy restaurant with the obvious intention of proposing. It's cliched. Instead, take her for a picnic, ice skating, to your backyard... anywhere which is romantic, but not obvious. Oreos should not be out of place where you take her, either.

2) Present the oreos as a snack... Again, this comes under the surprise part. Don't just start babbling and hand her a packet of chocolate goodness, it'd be awkward. Breath, and hand her the packet. Also, it's a good idea if you pretend to open them for her... otherwise she may become suspicious that the packet is already open, which it will have to be, because...

3) The ring/ring box should be in the middle of the packet... take out as many oreos as necessary and place in the ring/box. Placing the box in is what i'd do, but be careful to get a small enough box that it'll fit inside the packet. If you can see the corners through the packaging, it's a bit of a give away.

4) When she gets to the ring, get down on one knee (or up, if you were sitting...) and ask her to marry you.

Follow these rules, and with a little bit of luck she'll say yes before you could say "oreos are little pieces of chocolate goodness".
